Lyric Sound Experience Open Day – Brighton Clinic

Victorian Hearing’s recent Lyric Sound Experience Open Day at our Brighton clinic was buzzing with positive energy! Eight clients came through the doors to experience the uniqueness of Lyric for the first time. For most, it was a chance to try something completely different to what they currently wear (conventional hearing aids); for two others it was their first try of amplification.

We had three clinicians and one receptionist to manage the day. Clients all needed a recent hearing test on file. We spent some time going through the Lyric candidacy questions and if there were no contra-indications, proceeded to the Lyric sizing for each ear. This involves measurements of the ear canal depth and diameter, finally placing a ‘Lyric dummy’ in the canal to see how well it fits (choice of seven sizes). Based on all this information, we can then proceed to program a pair of Lyrics for the client.

The great thing about the open day is that the clients can leave the clinic with their new Lyrics in to go walk around the neighborhood and have coffee (on us!) at a local cafe for an hour. Instant testing! Clients return to tell us what their experience was like and whether they would like to proceed with a formal 30day Lyric trial – no obligation of course.

The three clients I had the pleasure of looking after have all been wearing hearing aids for many years but were keen to experience the uniqueness of Lyric: hassle-free ( no daily insertion or removal; no batteries to replace; no maintenance), 24/7 hearing and invisible! One gentleman attended with his supportive wife; as he has a number of other health issues, he thought the Lyric might be one less thing he has to remember to think about every day. Another younger male client was on his own, keen to learn whether the Lyric could out-perform his current devices (specifically) in noisy environments.

My final client was an active lady in her mid-80’s with a great sense of humour who attended with her partner (who also wears hearing aids). She was keen to try something new as her current devices are over five years old. In fact, she had tried Lyric many years ago but due to her narrow canals, was deemed to not be a suitable candidate (there was a limited Lyric size range available at the time). Pleasingly, we were able to fit a pair of Lyrics in (the smallest size!!) and she went off for a coffee and chat. On returning to the clinic, she declared that she would like to proceed as the Lyrics were comfortable and the sound quality was great! She will return in a week for us to check the health of both ears and based on her sound experience, make adjustments if needed.

It was a busy, productive day which was successful because the whole team was invested in looking after the clients and sharing the rooms, tools, and voroscope / Lyric microscopes.

Open days are a fantastic opportunity for us to share a unique experience with clients while educating them about the importance of hearing health care. Looking forward to the next one!
