At Victorian Hearing, we care about the environment and the management of the safe recycling of hearing aid batteries. We are happy to announce that we are a collection point for used hearing aid batteries for recycling purposes, following the Australian Battery Recycling Initiative (ABRI).

Batteries contain valuable metal resources. When used batteries are recycled, 95% of the batteries components can be remade into new batteries or repurposed in other industries.

Important hearing aid battery recycling facts:

  1. Disposal of batteries should never be put into your household bins. Battery elements can leak or cause a spark creating a fire. In addition, if placed in the garbage bin this will be put into the land fill and can cause toxic waste to leak into the environment as the battery deteriorates.
  2. When packaging to dispose, tape around the battery and place back into the original packaging to seal more information can be found here.
  3. Bring packaging to the Victorian Hearing locations where we can arrange to send to the recycling facility.

IMPORTANT – Always ensure you store your hearing aid batteries in a safe place out of reach of children and pets. If swallowed, seek medical assistance as soon as possible.

Drop off your used hearing aid batteries to one of our 10 Victorian Hearing locations.
